World’s Most Expensive Pokémon Card
The super rare “PSA 10 Pikachu Illustrator” sold to YouTuber Logan Paul for $5.2 million in July 2021. He was given a Guinness World Record for the most expensive Pokemon trading card sold at a private sale. But what makes it unique? Out of the 41 cards that were produced in 1997, this is the only one that’s been graded a 10 out 10 rating; meaning it’s in pristine condition.

I was lucky enough to be in charge of this card’s release on LiquidMarketplace in July 2022, a platform for trading and tokenizing high-value assets. Since this was by far our biggest drop, we pushed ourselves to have a solid launch campaign. I created dozens of assets for social media and our website, and even brochures and banners for events.

	The 3D model of the golden case and the Cuban chain around it was defentely the most challenging part of this project. I had never done a render like this before, but it truned out pretty great! This project more than anything was a jumpstart in my 3D modelling interest, and taught me skills I didn’t have before.
Now if you want to get technical for a moment, the topogogy and modeling technicques here aren’t the best. A lot could be improved, and since then I’ve only gotten more proficient at Blender but it’s still a whole new world to me!&#38;nbsp;

Royal Ontario Museum: Dawn of Life
During my time at Reich&#38;amp;Petch, I had the pleasure of working on the newest permanent gallery at the ROM, Dawn of Life. Almost 1,000 fossil specimens — more than 60% of them Canadian — represent the dawn of life on our planet. Spanning about 4 billion years, this is the first gallery of its kind in North America.
I worked on almost every sign, graphic and illustration in the gallery, though the art direction and majority of the foundation of visual design have already been finalized before I stepped in. Working with production files, importing technical drawings from CAD softwares into Illustrator and making sure English and French text is legible at the same level were some of the valuable lessons I got from this project. Most importantly though, walking in the gallery after its opening in December 2021 was probably the most fulfilling experience I had as a designer in my career!

One thing I’ve always appreciated about ROM’s galleries is the level of interactivity they provide for educational purposes. It’s always fun to have something else to do while visiting museums other than looking at artifacts and reading labels!

 I wasn’t part of this particular aspect of the gallery since it’s a different team that works on these, but I did meet the creative people behind them and they do such a fantastic job.

Display Ad-folio
One of my main responsibilities as a graphic designer at Camden Advertising Agency was creating display ads. I’ve made dozens and dozens of them for a variety of clients, in English and French. A thorough understanding of layout, composition and colour theory is essential for an effective display ad that’s going to live on the front page of a website if for some reason you don’t have an ad-block on.

Exploring 3D in Blender
During my time at LiquidMarketplace, I had to make renders of various cards we offered on our platform.

These primarily involved making small adjustments rather than creating entire designs from scratch, but that was enough to jumpstart my journey in Blender.&#38;nbsp;
As I mentioned in the “World’s Most Expensive Pokemon” post, I did my first big project which was modelling the

jewelry and the chain

 around the card.

Although it involved

 a lot of trial and error, I learned a lot along the way. It was time to

push

 my skills further and

delve deeper into the world of Blender.

After I passed the holy grail of Blender tutorials, the “Donut”, I was ready to tackle more complex projects. Soon after I found out I’m more interested in hard-surface modeling and product design, so I tried to recreate my IKEA chair and and some beaty products next. Safe to say I was happy with the results!

Talking about

hard-surface modeling, I found a super useful tutorial from the guys at Blender Bros, which was everything I wanted to teach me about faster and more efficient modelling.&#38;nbsp;

	&#60;img width="2560" height="1440" width_o="2560" height_o="1440" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/e5d7793c3b9bfa45a0c42a8aebd1c530844a8ad14428c212174ec51382b0b813/Hard-surface-Render.jpg" data-mid="181126831" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/e5d7793c3b9bfa45a0c42a8aebd1c530844a8ad14428c212174ec51382b0b813/Hard-surface-Render.jpg" /&#62;

Another great resource for learning product desing in Blender is Derek Elliott, the Bob Ross of 3D. Derek with his soothing voice and calming tone teaches a lot about modeling, textering, lighting and rendering in a way that’s easy to understand and fun to follow. His hour-long videos are a great way to go through an entire project, learning the process and everything in between.

I'm just beginning my journey with Blender, and there’s an entire world out there to explore. I find modeling random everyday object so pleasing in a way that maybe yoga is. It will take years upon years to master it, but I’m sure it’ll be a fun and fulfilling ride.

Delaware Museum of Nature &#38;amp; Science

In June 2022, Delaware Museum of Nature &#38;amp; Science reopened after a 17-month hiatus. In that time, the museum compeletely revamped their galleries and visual language, and I was honoured to be part of this trasformation while I was at Reich&#38;amp;Petch.

Similar to the Dawn of Life gallery, I was involved with almost every piece of visual asset in the new galleries. I worked on some huge artwroks for the walls and a massive map of Delaware that ended up on the floor of the museum, to guide the visitor to the diverse ecosystems of Delaware.

	For this project I worked on tiny lables to big wallpapers, designed some original artwork for the different ecosystems (like the one behind the Oceans banner below) and made sure every asset that was sent to production was the right size and dimensions, otherwise it could have super expensive&#38;nbsp;repercussions!

		<description>

Creative Coding with p5.jsCreative coding or generative art is a relatively new medium to express abstract ideas as well as visualise concrete data. One of the easiest ways to get into creating coding is made possible by p5.js, a free and open-source JavaScript library created by Lauren Lee McCarthy and developed by a community of collaborators.

I've just started to scratch the surface with p5 and as my first project, I decided to visualise the endless wonders of π.

As the first visualisation I took the first 100 digits of pi (including 3) and assigned them to 100 circles—The bigger the digit, the bigger the diameter of the circle. The first ten digits of pi for reference are: 3.1415926535. As you can see, the second and fourth circles that are the same size represent the digit 1.&#38;nbsp;

Check out the code and run it by yourself in the p5.js web editor.

&#60;img width="1000" height="989" width_o="1000" height_o="989" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/c0cb7f4e0d6c7e11801d3b3fbd97b182f1ac0a3dee59217b9412bf4deffe7602/pi-size-2.png" data-mid="96902916" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/c0cb7f4e0d6c7e11801d3b3fbd97b182f1ac0a3dee59217b9412bf4deffe7602/pi-size-2.png" /&#62;

In this one, I tried to replicate sound waves. The idea remains the same: the bigger the digit, the longer the line gets. For the sake of accuracy, every time 0 appears in this visualisation it is represented with a dot.

&#60;img width="1451" height="574" width_o="1451" height_o="574" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/b0b5328345da5c54534f55d398643dcbd12886a3cd51b730f1e702fe4e4c50c7/pi-line.png" data-mid="96904013" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/b0b5328345da5c54534f55d398643dcbd12886a3cd51b730f1e702fe4e4c50c7/pi-line.png" /&#62;

The last one is a bit more abstract and not as accurate but still fun to do. From left to right (0° to 180°) each digit of the first 100 digits of pi is drawn and as before, the size of the line is relative to the value of the digit.

&#60;img width="2179" height="1062" width_o="2179" height_o="1062" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/22b8ae3195892bbae46de5d51e0c4cab21f3a8644729ec62317f0bb6628a6019/pi-half-circle.png" data-mid="97053187" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/22b8ae3195892bbae46de5d51e0c4cab21f3a8644729ec62317f0bb6628a6019/pi-half-circle.png" /&#62;

But these are just sill frames that I captured from the p5 web editor. One fantastic feature of this library is the ability to make animations right inside the editor. All of these pi variations could be easily turned into animations. I will be updating this page with more sketches and hopefully motion graphics in the future.

		<title>Movies at a Glance: Frame Posters</title>

Movies at a Glance: Frame Posters

A less abstract way to view movies at a glance—other than reducing every frame to its overall colour and putting them all together—is putting the actual frames together. Almost every theatrical movie is shot at 23.976 frames per second. That would be more than two hundred thousand frames for a 2+ hours movie.
A more convenient way to put the frames together is to capture a frame each second.

Just like the other approach, it’s always fascinating to see how franchises have evolved visually. Devoted fans will surely recognize certain scenes even if they view them as tiny thumbnails—like “The Battle of Hoth” in The Empire Strikes Back.

&#60;img width="1342" height="2000" width_o="1342" height_o="2000" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/e7b3996e454b9d82beb609c034987cf8ab0c025a6c3dfb206910ba7961129939/star-wars-iv-poster.jpg" data-mid="97056240" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/e7b3996e454b9d82beb609c034987cf8ab0c025a6c3dfb206910ba7961129939/star-wars-iv-poster.jpg" /&#62;

2D and 3D animations are among the more visually pleasing ones to look at. Two prime examples of that are Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Wolfwalkers. The former

with its fantastic blend of CG and hand-drawn animation and the latter with clever use of colour as a vehicle to move the plot forward.

	These posters make great art pieces for any movie buffs to hang on their walls. If you’re interested in these kinds of posters of your favourite movie, feel free to get in touch!

Persian Alphabet Series

The 32 letters of the Persian alphabet are extremely varied in their shape and form. To capture their beauty, I challenged myself to create a poster for each one of them without altering or manipulating the letterforms in any way.

The result is a mesmerizing set of posters that elegantly showcase the intricacy of the Persian alphabet.

Movie Framelines

Each movie has a distinctive look and feel. Capturing this look in a single photo can lead to unexpected results.

	&#60;img width="3840" height="2160" width_o="3840" height_o="2160" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/1b03456303155271430ca8cf0acff3552c2514b55f6da1c57f8ba700b311976a/kill-bill.jpg" data-mid="73721403" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/1b03456303155271430ca8cf0acff3552c2514b55f6da1c57f8ba700b311976a/kill-bill.jpg" /&#62;

By taking one frame of each second of a movie, averaging its overall colour, condensing it into a thin line and putting them all together we end up with an abstract visual timeline that represents the tone of the movie at a glance.

	&#60;img width="2500" height="605" width_o="2500" height_o="605" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/89710ae5d8ecf302d530605ff7f8d47cf93936a1df364406479ed95b9c1f440e/process.png" data-mid="73721856" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/89710ae5d8ecf302d530605ff7f8d47cf93936a1df364406479ed95b9c1f440e/process.png" /&#62;

In Blade Runner’s sequel, the director expanded the palette of the original movie quite a bit. An animation like Pixar's Inside Out has a very distinctive look and some movies could feel vastly different from one scene to another, like The Neon Demon.

Going through a director’s filmography reveals their overall visual style and when they changed direction and tried a different look. Also, scrolling through a set of framelines is always mesmerising.
